Who We Are

About Us
We Believe that We can Save More Life's with you
Welcome to Compassion for Community (CFC), we are a non-profit organization that works in both Canada and Uganda. We are not linked to any specific religion or group. We officially registered as a non-profit in Canada in 2023, with our office in Toronto, Ontario. We work all across Canada. In Uganda, we started our work in 2017, and our office is in Kiryandongo DistrictA small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradise
At CFC, we want to help communities in Uganda become strong and last. We do this by easing suffering and helping people grow and succeed over time through programs that support their social and financial well-being. Our aim is to give resources, support, and opportunities to communities that are most in need. We want to create a more equal society where everyone has a chance to do well. For us, long-lasting community growth means meeting the needs of people today without making it harder for future generations to meet theirs. One of the best ways we help communities grow in a sustainable way is by offering education and training programs, which is a key part of what Compassion for Community does.
Our Background
Our History
When we started Compassion for Community (CFC) in 2017, we were deeply moved by the urgent needs in Uganda, especially in Kiryandongo District. Kiryandongo has been hosting refugees since 1956 and for many years, both local families and refugees in Kiryandongo have struggled daily to meet their basic needs like clean water, healthcare, and education. We saw these big needs and knew we had to step in. We wanted to offer real help where it was most needed to make a clear difference in their lives.
We promise to give direct help and important resources that truly improve the lives of people and families who are struggling. We believe in working closely with local groups, government, and international friends to achieve this shared goal. Our projects are not just for short-term help. They are made to help people become strong and independent, so they can take care of themselves. We want to help communities build a better future where they can support themselves, so they don't always need help from outside.
A main part of our work has been building schools. Now, we are building them in other parts of Uganda, not just Kiryandongo. What makes these schools special is that they can run themselves. We build the schools and give them the first things they need. After that, the local community takes full control. Local teachers are hired, parents give what they can, and small efforts from the community make sure the schools do well on their own. Since 2017, this way of working has helped us build more than just classrooms. We've built real hope and lasting futures, one school run by the community at a time.
